Nairobi - The City In The Sun

The capital city of Kenya, Nairobi has a nickname "City In The Sun". Since Kenya achieved independence in 1963, Nairobi has become a thriving metropolitan city. Like all major cities, Nairobi is certainly not without it's problems. However, it certainly has made strides to enhance the roads and clean the city and reduce crime. However, it is a city of tremendous vehicle and foot traffic. The result is often quite chaotic. At the same time, the sights and sounds can bring a great sense of excitement and satisfaction.

Seeds in His Garden

Seeds in His Garden Children's Home is registered in Kenya as a Charitable Children's Institution, and a Non-Profit Trust. This unique quality driven home provides exceptional care and education for those children who have been orphaned, abandoned, abused, or neglected. All forms of alternative family care are part of the objectives of this home while seeking what is best for each child. Placements of children are by government officials. We feel that every child placed with us is special and blessed.

Kenya - Land of Safari's

Kenya is located on the eastern side of the continent of Africa. A multi-cultural center which makes an ideal setting for development and growth.  The country is known for it's wildlife and special game parks. Here you will find some of the best views and diverse landscapes. It is refreshing to breath the air of the savannah's, or experience the silence and the stars as you sail off the coast. The people are creative in art, music, and theatre. Anywhere can be made special, but few places give you a lifetime experience like Kenya.

Children with ADHD Learning to Focus

kevinz170Kevin's Challenge - Focusing

Kevin is currently 12 years old. He has been at Seeds in His Garden since he was two weeks old. At four years of age we knew that Kevin had many special gifts and talents. It was also suspected that he may have Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. Over the years, many tests, confirmed the suspicions. Kevin scored above average on many tests and we were told he had an IQ score over 153. There were also tests that showed he had a strong imagination. Other tests confirmed that he had difficulties with concentration, speed in extracting information that he knew, and that his fidgety behavior was his tool to gather thoughts. When Kevin became aware that he had ADHD, he was not shocked. We talked and I shared with him that ADHD is just another special gift that God gave him.readmore

Maggie's Shirt of Art

maggie tieMaggie, Expression Unleashed with Color

Maggie, an active four-year-old is experiencing what it is like to be a tie-dye artist. She is investigating colors and patterns; but more importantly fun. Most artists feel a sense of accomplishment when they complete a work they have created. Maggie has the same as she creates her artwork, whether through drawing, painting or tie-dye. Sometimes, others who view the works of an artist have emotions they can express. readmore

Seeds in His Garden -

Adventure, Surprises, Laughter

Although the home operates on a typical home life routine of wake up calls, breakfast, snack time, lunch time, dinner time and bedtime, there are events that vary in between. There is also school, sicknesses, doctor appointments, play-time, disagreements, teaching life skills, counseling, chores, disciplines, shopping, and special trips. The only difference is preparing 26 children versus two or three. Yes, the issues are the same, the shoes aren't tied, the beds not made, delay tactics, pants with holes and shirts without buttons and of course the last minute stops to the restrooms, before we go anywhere.

However, just like the elephants in this video there is a leader and there are many who aid in the care of the children and all the elements of the daily routine. There is food preparation for three meals and snacks to serve fourty people each day. There is shopping, inventory of food and general supplies, washing clothes, house cleaning, homework time for twenty children, and of course all that goes into chore time and setting up activities to keep everyone busy and out of trouble. We believe that God has placed not only the children in our care, but those who help us with that care.

We thank those who assist the children of Seeds in His Garden on the ground faithfully and tirelessly. There are many who are part of the successes within the home and we invite you to meet them as you learn more about us. Come and join us, and if you are unable we hope that you will trust that we will reach our destination and support our efforts.

Kenya Reminders

Kenyan Coffee

Be sure that you have supported our exports here in Kenya.  Coffee and Tea are large exports for Kenya.  The coffee you drink can keep a family from going hungry.  Many people count on the jobs available on tea and coffee farms.

Web Site News!

For several months there has been anticipation about a web site. It is important to note that all the efforts on this site have been for the sole purpose of engaging others to support the work with the children in Kenya. All the credit for the efforts made to get the site available for those interested go to ALL the children of Seeds in His Garden. They are the ones that sacrificed the most as others made attempts for something that they would be proud of. Children are the key to the future of Kenya. God Bless them!
