Receive A Smile by Giving One Away

dentaledSeeds Kids Learning Teeth Help Us To Eat

We often assume that if someone is not smiling they are unhappy or upset. What if it is just that they are so self-conscious about the way their teeth look they are fearful to open up with a smile? How many of us just find teeth a part of our body we just take for granted? We brush and floss and care for the teeth of children at a very early age. We engage them to care about them. At the very least most are provided a toothbrush at very early ages.

It is true that we at times are just born with a propensity to a poor set of teeth.  But what happens when we are not confident about our smile? Is it something that can affect our self-esteem? Is it possible that children don't care?

I can assure you that by the time they have reached age ten, a child is mindful of how others view them and their looks.  By the time they are teenagers, they are very self conscious about their looks.

We have a boy who came very young into the home, and he smiled. Each year we noticed the smile begin to get

How Does Your Garden Grow?

beansSIHG Seeks To Be Full Of Beans

Having twenty acres of land affords SIHG an array of possibilities for development.  Certainy building on the land is part of developing the land. However, growing on the land is even more important and crucial to the home and immediately.

These beans can save the home $1000.00 over a three month period.  patandbeansBeans are a staple food and provide the protein for the children as part of the meals. This crop can be repeated and grows well on the land.  We found out about the savings on planting the beans in just three quarters of an acre and harvesting one crop.  The efforts were there the production and value to the home was there, but something was missing.  Time efficient methods for greater production in shorter time. The manual labor of working the soil over several months, and then finally preparing the furrows was sufficient time to have had another crop.  There was just no other means other than manually with three and sometimes four men to dig through the hard soil over several months. Our final step was the planting and maintaining the growth of the beans and ensuring the health of the plants and eventually harvesting took just a few weeks.

Eyes That Can't See - Let There Be Light

rachael170marvin170I Have Eyes, But I Cannot See

As you will see, our children here, may not only have traumas and difficulties with their adjustments from crisis to safety; they also may have issues to overcome such as not knowing what it is like to see.

When a child is placed in the home, the initial information is vague and the child does not communicate well either from fear or lack of understanding.  This can take several months to find out all the areas that we at Seeds in His Garden could assist them to a bright future.

Participate in the Life You Want

20 WORDS TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE

What Do You Want For Your Life

We all want a good life. It is doubtful that someone actally wakes up from sleep and shares with anyone that they want to have a bad life. But things do happen! And not everything feels good and/or leaves good results each day. We can and usually do have a reaction to events that happen, whether it is good or bad. But what do we do when it is not positive and discouraging? Do we want to give up? Do you have despair? Maybe you have resentment and anger?

Seeds in His Garden seeks to inform, encourage and support positive actions forward. Let us know what you are up to in your life. Are you making a difference?

Education - Who Is Teaching Who?

streets 2No School, No Promise, No Hope, No Contribution to Others

When one thinks of education there are often our own memories and some that are created by others.  There are visuals from our past that we can draw from, maybe friends, teachers, subjects, sports, or exactly what we learned and who taught us. When we are operating from the future and reflect to particular times of our education, we have our opinions and facts.streets 1

What happens when the education available is purely what life throws at you? Let's just say that you have been abandoned at an early age, and the streets and those living on them, welcome you. At five years old you glady accept this open feeling, freedom, and sense of belonging. You are happy! You reason in your mind what is scary and what is sad, or painful, for the feeling of having friends and someone who appears to care about you.

There are millions of children around the world that experience this daily. New child recruits join everyday in the life of street knowledge and an education that takes you no where. Glue and drugs numb the feelings that increase as you begin your journey of belonging to those who are on the same path.

Certainly some choose even after education a life that is hard, but many have no other options. For some such as these boys, they teach us that education is a desire but it is too late for them now, and they have done glue for over many years. We are educated about the effects and long term destruction in a society without education.

Come on, Rescue Me?Joseph 8

"I am not interested!"

"Are you kidding me?"

"You don't know anything!"

"You are lying"

"You don't really care"

"Leave me alone!"

and the list goes on and on and on.

Yes, these are just a few of the things we face here at SIHG following a placement of a child that has been traumatized. These children are often called "throw-aways". Why? We don't really know except no one could take care of them or wanted them. There of course is always a relative somewhere, however, they either don't know where, or the parent left or is deceased. What happens following these events is only a continuation of reasons to be angry or hurt.Joseph12

This is the second element of care here at Seeds in His Garden, the emotional state of mind. It is often the most challenging, as it takes the most time and patience. The children usually have a six month period when they first arrive of adjustment and a sense of relief; they have a bed and food. They have been rescued.  However, that does not last long, and within a short period, they begin to realize once again that there are deep feelings that they do not know what to do or how to express. Some have take a couple of years to come to a level of resolve. Others take several years for a sense of self-esteem to emerge and anger to dissipate. Some a decade or more are still in bitterness and unresolve, or simply struggle to truly move past a history of confusion. There can be such deep rooted feelings that the only safe place to put them and bring blame is on those that provide an opportunity to move from their initial state of confusion or fears.
